What a conclusion to last season's cliffhanger! We get Pike on the bridge weighing what to do, the grip of indecision has him as the action goes on all around him, and that lasts for another couple of seconds right before Pike gets right back into it, asking his crew for their suggestions. He's the epicenter of calm as he listens to his officers brainstorm about how they're going to get out of this clusterfuck of a mess, and then makes a decision.

Seriously, just a great start to the season premier episode!
